Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Global Packaging Network ("GPN", "we", "us") collects through this website (globalpackagingnetwork.com) and the GPN application (app.globalpackagingnetwork.com), and how we use it.

Who we are

Global Packaging Network provides packaging cost-calculation tools and a directory of packaging suppliers. For anything in this policy, contact us at contact@globalpackagingnetwork.com.

What we collect

• Contact form. Name, email address, optional company name and your message. This is delivered to us by email and is not stored in a website database.
• App accounts. The app uses Google sign-in. When you sign in we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and we store your account details, role and module access, together with the content you create in the app (cost models, quotes, supplier listings) and your GPN Academy course progress and quiz scores.
• Your company profile. To produce your quotations and invoices the app stores the business details you enter: contact person, company name, email, mobile, address, country and state, and — if you choose to add them — a company logo image, tax registration number, applicable tax name and rate, bank details and standard invoice terms. These are used to fill in the documents you generate. Bank details are only printed on an invoice when you choose to include them at the time you generate it.
• Payments. In-app payments (account activation and calculator subscriptions) are processed by Razorpay on their hosted checkout. Your card, UPI or bank details go to Razorpay directly and never reach us; we receive and store the transaction outcome — payment and subscription identifiers, the amount, and what the payment unlocked — to operate your access and keep billing records. Razorpay processes your payment data under its own privacy policy.
• Inquiries you post. Anyone with a GPN account can post an inquiry without paying. What you write — the title, description, quantity, product categories, where you need the goods, and any file you attach — is shown to packaging suppliers whose listings match those categories, so that they can reply to you. Your name, phone number and email address are not shown on it, and on a free account they are not published anywhere in the app at all; suppliers reply inside GPN and the conversation stays there. Replies, and the messages you exchange under them, are visible to you, to that one supplier, and to GPN staff. You can close an inquiry at any time, which stops new replies, or delete it, which removes it and its replies.
• Directory listings compiled from public sources. So that the Packaging Directory is useful from the day you join, it also contains listings for packaging companies that are not yet GPN members, compiled from public trade sources such as exhibitor lists and trade directories. We record where each one came from. These listings are marked Unclaimed and are shown only to signed-in members with an activated account — never on this website and never to search engines. Personal contact details on an unclaimed listing — contact person, phone, email, website and street address — are not shown to anyone except GPN staff. If a member sends an enquiry to an unclaimed company, we may contact that company by email or WhatsApp to tell them, and invite them to join and reply.
• Removing an unclaimed listing. If your company appears in the Packaging Directory and you would rather it did not, you can ask us to remove it without creating an account, using the "Request removal" link on the listing or in any message we send you. We review removal requests within 72 hours, take the listing down, and do not add that company again. The same link reports anything that is wrong on a listing. You can also email us at the address at the top of this page.
• Public profile pages you choose to publish. A GPN member can switch on Public profile for their own listing — it is off by default. Once switched on, the member picks their own web address (app.globalpackagingnetwork.com/s/their-chosen-name) and anyone with the link can open it, without a GPN account. It shows the company details, location, products, images and certificate names the member has chosen to include. It never shows phone numbers, email addresses, contact person names, certificate files or listing stats, and invites visitors to sign in to GPN to make contact. A member can switch Public profile off again at any time, which takes the page down.
• Emails you prepare with Connect. Connect prepares outreach emails for members with Packaging Directory access, but GPN does not send them — each one opens in the member's own mail app and leaves from their own address, so we never see the sent message or any reply. What we store is the record: who sent it, which company it was addressed to, the date, and which template was used. The templates a member writes, and the wording of each prepared email, are stored so that only that member can read them. A supplier who has been contacted is shown the sending company's name and the date — never the message, and never the sender's personal details beyond what the email itself carried to them. A supplier who has asked not to be contacted is never included, and a member may email the same supplier only once in any fourteen days.
• How you use the app. The GPN app records which screens you open and a small number of actions — signing in, saving or reopening a quote, saving a cost model, and searching the directory — using Google Analytics for Firebase. These records are linked to your account, so we can see how the app is actually used and fix what gets in the way. We do not collect an advertising identifier, and we do not use any of this for advertising or share it with advertisers. The website itself has no analytics at all.
• The packaging quiz. You can take the quiz and see your score without giving us anything. If you want the breakdown — which questions you got wrong and why — we ask for your name and email address, and we store those together with your scores and which questions you have already been shown. That last part is only so a retake gives you questions you have not seen before. Your progress is remembered by a cookie on the device you took it on; using the same email address on another device joins the two records together.
• Quiz badges you choose to share. Nothing about your quiz is published unless you press Get a shareable link on your own result. Doing that creates a page showing your first name, the stage and the score — and nothing else. Not your surname, not your email address, and not which questions you got wrong. Anyone with the link can open it, so treat it as public; it is marked so that search engines do not index it. Email us and we will take a badge down.
• Security and hosting data. Our website and form protection run on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to serve the site and block abusive traffic (including the Turnstile anti-bot check on our contact form). The app runs on Google Firebase, which processes similar technical data to operate the service.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your personal information.
• We don't run advertising or advertising trackers, on the website or in the app — the app collects no advertising identifier.
• We don't send marketing emails unless you have specifically asked us to. The optional, unticked box on the packaging quiz is the only place we ask, and anything sent on the back of it carries a way to stop it. Otherwise we only reply to messages you send us and provide the service you signed up for.

Why we process your information

We process contact-form details to answer your enquiry (our legitimate interest in responding to you), and app account data to provide the service you've requested (performance of our agreement with you). Security data is processed in our legitimate interest of keeping the service safe. Quiz details are processed to show you your own result and remember your progress (our legitimate interest in running the quiz), and — only where you have ticked the box — to tell you about GPN Academy courses (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).

How long we keep it

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any follow-up. App account data is kept while your account is active — this is the same whether or not you have ever paid, so a free account that only ever posted an inquiry is kept, and deletable, on exactly the same terms. You can delete your account yourself at any time, from My Profile in the app — this permanently removes your profile, cost models, estimates and quotations, customers and contacts, inquiries, RFQs, your Packaging Directory listing and every file you uploaded. Nothing is retained, apart from transaction records our payment provider is legally required to keep.

Quiz records are kept while they are useful for showing you your own progress. Email us and we will delete yours — you do not need a GPN account for that, and deleting it does not affect any account you do have.

Who else is involved

We use Cloudflare (website hosting, email delivery, bot protection), Google (Firebase hosting, database, authentication, and Gmail for receiving enquiries) and Razorpay (payment processing for in-app purchases and subscriptions). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Data may be processed outside the UK; where that happens our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Email us and we'll help.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top.
